Virga is an observed strip of precipitation that has fallen out of the cloud, which evaporates or sublimes before reaching the earth. This phenomenon can be compared to the cirrus cloud Cirrus (higher and thinner), the Nimbus cloud cloud (dense but not too low) and Stratus (thick and low) layered cloud.
