Description: This edition of Sessions was recorded onsite in Dakar with producer and recording artist, Iss 814, to capture the sounds of nature and city life in Dakar. We recorded the sounds of city streets, street performers, found the sound percussion created by striking sticks on various materials.
We walked along the streets of Les Almadies, catching the sounds of birds, the ocean and cars in the streets around us. We also collected trash scattered on the beaches and turned it into drum kits. The resulting package is electrified with organic energy and vitality found only in Dakar. The sounds in this package were recorded using Zoom H6 portable digital recorders and a Sennheiser ME 66 shotgun microphone.
