Pompeii is a plugin for multiband dynamics processing.
It was designed to give you full control over the volume of your sound. To achieve this, Pompeii breaks your signal into four user-configurable bands and applies compression or expansion to the band before mixing them together. Pompeii also has a master band, which is applied after the other four bands and covers the entire frequency range.
Pompeii contains all the controls you expect to find on the dynamic processor:
Threshold
Controls the level at which the dynamics processing operates. Levels above this will be reduced by the compressor, levels below that will be reduced by the expander.
Ratio
How much is reduced level.
Knee
Controls the smoothness of the transition between the reduced level and the intact level relative to the threshold.
Gain reduction limit
Sets the maximum amount of reduction.
Attack
The time it takes the envelope to meet the peaks.
Release
The time in which the envelope disintegrates after the peaks.
Gain
Makeup enhancement is applied after treatment.
Mix
How much of the processed signal is transmitted to the output.
Each band also shows the input and output levels for that particular band so that you can see exactly how your sound is processed.
