WIDE RANGE OF TRAIN AND ENGINE TYPES
BOOM Library’s TRAINS provides you with a huge selection of clean, high quality SFX. It includes sounds from almost any type of train and engine. Heavy freight trains, old and modern passenger trains with electric, steam and diesel engines.
EXTENSIVE INTERIORS
The interior recordings were made on different locations such as the cockpit, the wagons, engine rooms, cabins, and even the restrooms.
NOTHING LEFT UNRECORDED
SFX from the outside contain drive-bys, departing and arriving trains, wheels, horns, grinding, rattling, squeaking, clacking, coupling, braking, air releases, and much more! To give you the full package, you get a mass of great interior and exterior handling sounds on top. Simply any sound you need for a realistic train environment, as always, delivered in high quality with 96kHz / 24-bit.
SURROUND EDITION
The surround version of our TRAINS library gives you all the sounds from the stereo version – 33GB surround sounds to design great surround train ambiences with ease.
All sounds are delivered in high quality with 96kHz / 24-bit. The files come in unencoded double M / S and encoded 5.0 surround.
WHAT WE RECORDED
It took us some time to find that perfect recording spot: we rented an old train track in the eastern part of Germany to fully wire the trains and record all possible sounds. Apart from that we recorded trains in South Africa and the UK to further increase your sound design possibilities. The result is this gigantic TRAINS sound effects library that will surely help you for a long long time.
WHAT’S SO SPECIAL ABOUT THIS LIBRARY?
The initial request to record the TRAINS sounds came from the crew of SNOWPIERCER, a fantastic Korean-US production, directed by Academy Award-winning director Bong Joon Ho featuring Chris Evans, Tilda Swinton, John Hurt, Ed Harris. The movie completely plays in a train that runs through a post-apocalyptic world. BOOM Library was asked to deliver top-notch train recordings to create a convincing and realistic atmosphere throughout the whole movie. With this TRAINS SFX library, you have access to exactly the same recordings.
COMPATIBLE SOFTWARE
BOOM Library sound FX come as WAV files, meaning you can import and work with them in any software that can handle this file type. Here are the most common audio and video editing software tools that work perfectly with our sound FX.
RICH METADATA EMBEDDED
To provide you with the fastest and easiest workflow possible, all files contain extensive metadata like file description & keywords to quickly find the sounds you’re looking for. Metadata can be read and processed by audio management tools. Some digital audio workstations feature an included search tool that can also read embedded metadata.

NOTES :
The home page contains the following information on the number of files in editions:
– STEREO – 2352
– SURROUND – 5248
This is not true!
Actually the number of files in editions:
– STEREO – 544
– SURROUND – 2352
But why did the manufacturer specify the wrong number of files? And why are these numbers indicated?
The answer is simple: a low level of communication among employees, inadvertency and a little laziness.
You may notice that on the home page the number of files in the SURRUND edition is indicated for STEREO edition. This is one of the reasons for the error.
The total number of files in the two editions is 2896 files. The SURROUND edition comes with the STEREO edition, so the number 2896 was indicated as the number of files in the SURRUND edition.
At the very end, in order to calculate the total number of files for the two editions, the erroneous number of files in the SURROUND edition was added to the erroneous number of files in the STEREO edition:
2352 + 2896 = 5248
One question remains: why the error on the home page has not been fixed yet?
