Description:

From its broadcast origins to its use on some of the best-selling, most enduring records of all time, the V76 preamp plays a key supporting role in pop music history.
Favorite engineers and technicians on Abbey Road, and included in their iconic VED V76 mixing consoles desired for this sound “White Album”, every major studio in the world wanted some action, and tens of thousands of Telefunken preamps were created to meet demand.
These days, due to scarcity and cost, it is almost impossible for most musicians and producers to choose one of these legendary preamps. Similarly, Arturia built its reputation on recreating the legendary, rare synthesizers and keyboards using advanced models, we decided to use our technology TAE® to give everyone a chance to experience that legendary V76 sound.
Harvest sound with modern technology
… how does software preamp work? My audio interface already has preamps, what difference does it make?
Simply put, preamps were originally created to make the signals louder. They would sound low-power – from a microphone or instrument, for example – and amplify them so that they were strong enough to mix, while minimizing any added noise. North-West Germany Radio pioneered this technology, creating high quality preamps for broadcasting. Strengthening the design of NWGR, Telefunken produced the V72, which later evolved into studio-oriented V76, and became one of the main products in studios around the world.
Fast forward 70 years, and the audio industry has changed a bit. Superbly transparent, low noise, affordable preamps are included in virtually every audio interface. However, the subtle tonal shift, vintage preamps gave the audio they process, especially the lamp design, like the V76, is not enough today.
We wanted to give you the best of both worlds: the ability to dye the sound of your modern recorded sound and virtual instruments with the visual tone of classic studio equipment.
We add that “JE se sais Quoi”
It is difficult for new manufacturers and mix engineers to know how important the subtle sound is. Corrective power Preamps, we are talking about something understated. This is not a flashy synth or extreme audio distorting plugin.
At its core, all of our plug-in preamps offer 2 main benefits:
Link to the past
There is something completely magical to hear classic songs. If you let your mind drift, you are transported to a completely different time: different fashion, different policies, different tastes, different lives. If you are after the “this” 60 – sound, you can not go far wrong with the V76-Pre. In addition to the individual tracks in your song, you can get that tonal push and fluffy soft clipping, which comes with a valve driven vintage electronics.
Mixing trust
Download the V76-Pre as an “insert” effect on the channel, type in the appropriate preset, and most of the hard work was taken care of. You are now mixing with the sound of a classic analog console with settings on the top sound designer. Now you are free to get creative, confident that you have more than half a century of legendary audio pro legacy supporting you.
His rich tone and immense creativity have made him an integral part of the Abbey Road installation, perhaps the most crucial moment in his history. Although known as going to the microphone preamp for radio and studio use and first-choice mastering amplifier, working V76 units are hard to find. Fortunately for us, we were able to start and finish our pursuit of the ultimate tone tube in France.
At Question De Son, a highly respected recording studio in the 10th arrondissement of Paris, we were able to explore the original, consistent pair of V76 / 80 preamps. Models 4754 were 4755, were in active service for 70 years, and made excellent subjects for our research.
We do not just want to create a carbon copy, but give you the best elements of TELEFUNKEN’s sound signature. For example, control gains were made continuously for more precise control, the rarely used “broadcast utility” 3KHz low-frequency switch was removed, and the boost and cut-out range of the V612 EQ was improved, giving you studio tools that are more convenient to use for a modern musician.
Thanks to the tireless research efforts, modeling and development of the Arturia team, you can also incorporate the tone of the legendary V76 preamplifier and V612 equalizer into your DAW setting.
Take a closer look
The V76-Pre combines the best German designed preamplifier and equalizer era into one amazing vintage channel channel plugin. Let’s look at what makes it such a pleasure.
Modified V612 2-band EQ
the V76-Pre equalizer is modeled on a rare, modified Telefunken V612, providing access to the music-placed high shelf and low shelf. Both of them can be reduced or increased by 10dB for fine balancing of your signal.
V76 input gain
the main control panel of the preamplifier, which allows you to increase the strength of the incoming signal by passing it through a virtual circuit and a vacuum tube. He begins to give more of his tonal flavor to a hotter signal, until he begins to decay with a harmonic rich soft tenderloin.
Multi-mode Low-Pass Filter
The attached low frequency allows you to remove low bass frequencies of 80 Hz, roll with high energy low frequencies at 300C, or use both together to create a more dramatic effect. Low frequency can also be circumvented, leaving your signal unfiltered.
Output trimming
Simple but always helpful. The trim output signal allows you to adjust the “volume level” at the 24dB output without changing the tone.
Mid / Side mode
Missing from the original Telefunken, the V76-Pre allows you to use advanced midrange / side methods without external processing or converters, that is, the audio will sound amazing in both mono and stereo.
