Description : There is a Japanese concept called wabi-sabi. Imagine a beautiful vase, seasoned by sunlight, perhaps a small crack or two in marble. Compared to something new, there is beauty in this imperfection. There is another feeling, perhaps an attack of nostalgia and loss. The Japanese-American performer of electronics through jazz Shigeto, a pseudonym for Michigan-born Zak Sagino, embodies the spirit of wabi-sabi in his work. Electronic music offers rigidity, perfection, quantization. However, somewhere in the Ableton grid and MIDI-syncing chests, Shigeto embraces the imperfect.
Drum grooves swing in unpredictable rhythms. The sharp rumble of a rusty Kalimba note, the frustrated hum of an analog synthesizer, room noises and ambient sounds penetrate its tracks. He weaves the magnificent with an inharmonious, 4/4 dance with a rhythm of jazz, digital sounds with live instruments. Find them all in your new sample pack.
