TENSION AND DRAMA – ON THE DARK SIDE
Give your action, sci-fi and horror movie a blockbuster boost with Volume 4 in the acclaimed ProjectSAM Symphobia series. Pandora allows you to summon thrilling cinematic Risers, fall premonitions, and stunning crescendos with unmatched ease and flexibility. Pandora’s innovative Adaptive Sync quickly and effortlessly combines a huge library of articulations and effects with your sequence so your next deadline doesn’t have to be a nightmare. Plus, fully customizable sound design tools help you quickly create the Voices you want.
INTRODUCTION OF ADAPTIVE SYNCHRONIZATION
Pre-recorded crescendos and rolls sound great. But they had a drawback: they were not very flexible. Any composer recognizes a trial and error process by nudging the crescendo note until it ends up in the right place. This is a tedious activity that most of us would rather skip if we could.
Symphobia 4: Pandora is filled with transitional samples – sounds that progress dynamically or directionally over time – from powerful brass crescendos to discordant garlands. All these samples have one thing in common: a clear musical ending or climax.
With Adaptive Sync, you can simply set the number of beats or seconds you need for a crescendo, throw, or lift. By touching the huge pool, Adaptive Sync automatically selects the best matching record from its database and intelligently adjusts it to match your hit point exactly. Likewise, you can very quickly time the crescendo or throw in the next hit *. If you move a note forward or backward, the engine automatically switches to a more suitable recording if necessary. If you change the tempo of your track, Adaptive Sync changes accordingly.
Bold articulations and hunting effects
Symphobia 4: Pandora offers a wide variety of big and bold, playable ensemble articulations, ranging from cellos and basses to a massive 30-piece Tutti orchestra. For all the crescendos and excitement, Adaptive Sync is here to help.
All articulations have been selected and recorded to add unprecedented loudness to the existing orchestral template. Symphobia 4: Pandora is the ultimate cinematic finishing touch.
The selection of instruments offers immersive, complementary sound layers that can be mixed with the main articulation on the fly. For example, Tutti Orchestra’s crescendo tool displays controls for quickly adding grand cashier rolls, timpani and cymbals. Likewise, you can quickly add sweetener to bass drum and percussion instruments.
The Symphobia series has always been the perfect setting for orchestral effects. For Pandora, many of the bones were chilled during the effects sessions. The library contains more orchestral effects than ever, from eerie violin textures to loud brass beats. And with Adaptive Sync and Sound Design Mode, recorded effects are now more flexible and customizable than ever. For thriller, horror and sci-fi scores, Symphobia 4: Pandora is a must.
Pandora’s dedicated effects engine, combined with Sound Design Mode, gives you the ability to completely flip any orchestral sound, creating dark soundscapes and ominous textures using synchronized stuttering, pitch envelopes and other custom effects.
SOUND DESIGN MODE
Clicking on the triangle icon activates Sound Design Mode. This allows you to directly manipulate the selection of mapped samples and customize your presets using the waveform control. You can trigger sampled positions, reverse playback, inverse downsync, time-stretch, and more. These features are available even for tools that use default streaming. We continue to build on the foundation of Sound Design Mode in future library updates **.
Clicking the triangle icon again will immediately return you to Orchestral Mode security.
PULSES
Symphobia 4: Pandora has both clustered and tonal pulses.
Cluster Pulses are idiomatic note combinations that add instant cinematic momentum to your track. Each clef contains a different recorded note group for strings, brass, and woodwind. For each impulse there is a suitable crescendo and staccato crescendo phrase. They work great as intros and exits, especially in combination with Pandora’s Adaptive Sync crescendos and rolls. Tonal impulses are available for the low and middle strings, played in octaves and unison, respectively. Tones offer additional synchronized synthesis layers that can be mixed with the orchestral pulse on the fly.
All impulses were recorded in 4, 8 and 16 repetitions. The Pandora interface allows you to switch mid-circuit with completely unchanged timing.
RISERS
No cinematic library is complete without a solid collection of stretch strings. For Pandora, several recording sessions were dedicated exclusively to this, covering lengths from 2 to 15 seconds in various playing techniques and dynamic arcs, including arco, accelerating staccato, harmonic and sul ponticello tremolo. And this is where adaptive sync makes it easy to match Risers to your sequence.
You can use Orchestral Risers in their original form, or give them a trailer processing, adding idiomatic, accelerating stuttering and some saturation with the Pandora effects module. Several pictures are included as inspirational examples. Pandora also includes a set of disturbing string down jackets.
