Recording the sounds of trees, the splashing of a pond and the cackling of a rooster in the Catskill Mountains of New York State, Daniel Friedman (drums for David Byrne) and Brian Rosenworthel (drums for Guster/Thundergod Percussion) present the Splice kit inside and out of an upstate barn. When these two friends and the drummers realized they could make drum kits out of the pine trees behind Brian’s house, Barn Percussion was born. Grooves have been found in rivers and tunnels, on rocks and old tractor wheels, and wherever nature has shown its percussive potential.
