Description : Starting in 2009, when recording sessions for volumes 1 and 2 took place, the piano was exposed to weather almost unprotected. Black lacquer got fragile, the strings are covered with rust and dirt. However, these pianos still emit amazing and reverberation sound, which is definitely worth capturing.
The sounds for Rolfing 3 were recorded chromatically, with an enhanced setting of acoustic stereo microphones and two pairs of piezo pickups. All samples were carefully edited by hand to form a comprehensive palette of the versatile Rack tool. Inspired by the surroundings of the acoustic field during night recording sessions, a set of independently controlled ambient styles is included in the Rack unit. They are closely integrated into the rack structure and have a convenient Macro destination. Additionaly, all the sounds of the atmosphere are contained as separate clips for use in another context, if necessary.
In the second pass, the entire piano was processed using the Jazz Brush. Stripping and striking the strings and the body revealed a ton of interesting sounds on the border between tonal and acousmatic. They are made up of 12 additional racks.
