Welcome to the Dance Music Production DVD course on Mixing and Mastering Trance
Mixing and mastering is viewed by many as a black art and a subject that can only be mastered by a select few engineers with access to a Π100,000.00 studio desk. However, it is not beyond anyone’ skill to record, mix and master a recording to a professional standard in a home studio environment provided you are armed with the right knowledge and have access to some basic equipment that is well within the reach of most budding engineers. Whilst we can’t supply you with the equipment, this DVD, combined with the information in the Dance Music Manual, will arm you with the knowledge and approach required to produce professional quality recording in your home studio.
The DVD was filmed over a period of two days at my personal home studio. It was filmed entirely live, with the screencast software running in the background throughout the entire mixing and mastering of the music. In order to be able to mix and master through monitors and also speak into a microphone simultaneously took a substantial amount of work with phase cancellation. Therefore, there may be ocassions where there are volume discrepancies, we apologise in advance for this but it was unfortunately unavoidable and should not be considered a fault with the DVD.
This DVD is a continuation of Volume 2: Trance and picks up where the previous DVD left off, starting with a quick look at the arrangement before mixing. Whilst it is not necessary to have viewed the Trance DVD to follow along with all the techniques within this DVD, it is preferential since there are times when we discuss some of the techniques we employed during the production of the record.
In order to view this DVD, you will require Quicktime installed on your computer. This is available as a free download from HERE

Cognitive video course on mixing and mastering of dance music in the home.
Mastering dance music.
Following on from the DVD Production Series Volume 2: Trance, comes the long awaited tutorial on mixing and mastering the trance track Sunset. This 3 hour video course is designed to be used in conjunction with the Dance Music Manual (first or second edition) and continues from the previous
Trance release, showing how a track can be mixed and mastered.
The screen recording software was left running throughout the entire mixing and mastering process, so nothing is missed out and the DVD also contains all the audio channels from the original track allowing you to follow and develop upon the techniques used and discussed throughout.
