Buchla Easel, released in 1973, sounds as unique as it looks. It should be noted that its creator, the ‘west coast’ electronic instrument pioneer Don Bukla, was an original designer who created very distinctive electronic musical instruments. In this course, synthesis expert Rishabh Rajan explores Arturia’s recreation of Don Bukla’s “The Music Easel”, which was ahead of its time.
The course starts with an overview of the plugin where you will learn how to navigate the interface, load presets and how to make basic patches. Rishabh then covers the Complex Oscillator and Modulation Oscillator modules and explains how to channel them creatively through the Dual Lo Pass Gate. It then shows what you can get by playing around with various Voltage Control modules such as Envelope Generator, Pulser and Sequential Voltage Source. You’ll also learn about Mod CV, Envelope Out, Inverter, as well as all the additional features that Arturia has added to the plugin version (and the Gravity feature is out of this world!).
