Native Instruments has unveiled SCARBEE RICKENBACKER BASS, a new virtual instrument for KONTAKT that models the Rickenbacker 4003 bass guitar. The samples were captured by bassist and guitar designer Thomas Skarbye.
The SCARBEE RICKENBACKER BASS is reported to be the first software version of this bass to be approved by Rickenbacker. The popular Rickenbacker 4003 guitar delivers deep lows and detailed mids that allow the instrument to remain clear and prominent in the mix. For RICKENBACKER BASS, two types of articulation were sampled – open and palm-muted.
To ensure the highest level of detail in the process of capturing the sound from the guitar, Thomas Skarbay used top-class Metric Halo LIO-8 preamps, Mogami patch cables and Rotosound bass strings. His attention to detail also extends to his playing technique. All samples were recorded from Rick-O-Sound’s stereo output, preserving the guitar’s unique sound.
