Description : Developed by Peter Vogel and Kim Ryrie and introduced to the market in 1979, the Fairlight CMI (Computer Musical Instrument (CMI) – Computer Musical Instrument) was one of the first workstations to include sampling, synthesis, and sequencing. Heard on countless pop artists’ recordings (here are some of them by Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, Art Of Noise, Duran Duran, Jean-Michel Jarre, Prince), this legendary instrument really changed the sound of 80s music. And although the original instrument was too expensive for most musicians, CMI V from Arturia in this regard is the clear opposite.
